Following the Super TV CEO Death, Chidinma Ojukwu has confessed to killing Super TV CEO alone while naming an internet fraudster who assisted her in falsifying the deceased documents.
Chidinma Ojukwu, the 300-Level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, who was arrested last Wednesday, over the murder of Chief Executive Officer, Super TV, Usifo Ataga, in a service apartment in the Lekki area of Lagos State has revealed that she sees Usifo’s face in her dream.
This is just as more facts have emerged on how she murdered 50-year-old Usifo.
At a chance meeting with the 21-year-old lady, she said she wished she would wake up to discover that the whole drama was only a dream.
She said: “ I have never had peace since the day I was arrested. Never in my wildest imagination did I envisage I would kill a human being. I see his face in my dream every night. At times I would be scared to sleep.
“I have been begging God for forgiveness. This is not what I wanted for myself. I don’t know what fate holds for me.
“I am also begging his family to forgive me, especially his children. Ah! God, what have I done?” she exclaimed, burying her face in her palms.
While maintaining that she carried out the killing alone, Chidinma told detectives at the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Yaba that she was able to overpower the deceased because he was weak.
She revealed that late Usifo became weak after taking three wraps of Rohypnol while she took one wrap. She stated that she strangled Usifo before stabbing him.
Her claim has confirmed the Ataga family’s insinuation that Usifo’s neck was discovered to have been broken during an inspection of his body in the morgue.
Internet fraudster indicted:
Meanwhile, detectives are on the manhunt for a suspected drug addict and internet fraudster (names withheld), who Chidinma claimed to have assisted her to falsify the deceased’s documents after she escaped from the service apartment in Lekki Phase 1, abandoning Usifo’s lifeless body.
She disclosed that the deceased earlier gave her his Automated Teller Machine, ATM, card to withdraw some money to buy some clothes but that she did not withdraw much.
Thereafter, she said she contacted the internet fraudster to help her withdraw more money.
As at yesterday, the internet fraudster, who got wind of Chidinma’s arrest, had bolted from his abode. But the Police assured they would get him to answer questions on what he knew about Usifo’s death.
According to Vanguard, since Usifo’s death, his estranged wife and mother of two, Brenda, had not visited the SCIID. Vanguard was reliably informed that she would be invited for questioning, owing to information at detectives disposal.
Police beef security : Meanwhile, Police have beefed up security around the suspect to avoid any situation that could truncate investigation.
Presently, only her father is allow to visit her. Journalists are also barred from speaking with her.
This move, according to Police sources, was also aimed at avoiding a situation whereby any untoward incident will happen to her. For instance, her food is served by the Police, as outsiders are barred from bringing in food for her.
Chidima, the killer of Super TV Boss begs his family for forgiveness, speaks on drug use, childhood
With investigation still ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the death of the Chief Executive Officer, Super TV, Usifo Ataga, the prime suspect, Chidinma Ojukwu, during an exclusive interview with Sunday PUNCH on Saturday, said she doesn’t want to die over the case.
Amid cries, the University of Lagos undergraduate said, “I regret killing Mr Ataga. I don’t know what my future holds but I don’t want to die. Please, I don’t want to die because of this case. I have not killed before.
“I was just trying to comport myself to answer questions during the parade and not that I am not showing remorse. I totally regretted everything I did and I am sorry. Mr Ataga’s family, I am deeply sorry for what I did. If I had my life back, I wouldn’t do anything like that. I am deeply sorry and I hope you forgive me.”
Chidinma and Ataga reportedly lodged in a service apartment in the Lekki area of Lagos State and the corpse of the latter was discovered the next day in the room and the former fled, thus raising suspicion of her complicity in his death.
The police said they went after her and tracked her down at her father’s Alagomeji, Yaba residence.
Upon her arrest, Chidinma attributed her action to the influence of hard drugs and alcohol.
Speaking while being paraded by the police, Chidinma said she met the late Ataga about four months ago. Chidinma also said that she and Ataga were “having fun” when an argument broke out and she stabbed him twice after which she withdrew N380, 000 from his account using his ATM card.
The police had also disclosed that an Information and Communication Technology unit recently created by the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, tracked the suspect, who used different SIM cards– both Nigerian and foreign ones.
Chidinma said her parents separated when she was two years old and she started living with her uncle, Chijioke Obi, in the Mushin area of Lagos State.
She added that while growing up, her childhood ambition was to become either a musician or an actress.
The suspect stated, “My role models were Tiwa Savage, Beyonce, Rihanna, Genevieve, and Regina Hall. I schooled in Johnson Primary School and also a government primary school in Mushin. I later went to Sidman College in Sabo, Yaba. I was two-year-old when my parents separated, I was little, so while I was growing up, I stayed with my uncle, Mr Chijioke Obi, in Mushin. I don’t know if he bears Izu, but it was my uncle that trained me.”
Upon completion of secondary school education, the suspect said she gained admission to study Mass Communication at the University of Lagos.
Asked about her assumed drug-induced lifestyle, Chidinma said, “I started smoking after I got into UNILAG.”
She also confirmed she’s the person in a trending video showing a lady puffing out cigarette smoke while soft music plays in the background.
She stated, “I am the one smoking in the trending video. I started smoking a few years ago. Old-time friends introduced me to it and we don’t talk anymore. Everything started after I entered UNILAG, but not actually when I am in school, it could be other places. But I am not the one in the other video (dissociating herself from another trending video showing a lady exhibiting her butt).”
Ataga took hard drugs, drank —Chidinma
On her relationship with Ataga, Chidinma described him as just a friend she met a few months back, faulting claims that he neither took hard drugs nor alcohol.
Narrating some of the moments she spent with the deceased, she said, “Mr Ataga was a friend and I don’t know how to elaborate more. He has not shown me pictures of his family but he sometimes acts like he was married and not that he is married (sic). I have met him up to four or five times; he takes drugs and drinks alcohol. It is not that I am trying to put anything together.’’
Also, the police said that on Thursday they released Chidinma’s father and the operator of the apartment where the incident happened, Mrs Nkechi Mogbo, on bail. The suspect’s father was arrested over what the police described as obstructing the arrest of her daughter while Mogbo had been in police custody after investigation identified her as the operator of the apartment.
Odumosu said, “Chidinma’s statement exonerated her father as she said that he was not aware of the incident. We released him. Also, the lady in our custody, one Mrs Nkechi Mogbo, who leased the flat from the property owner and used it for a service apartment, has been released on bail.
“After Magbo was arrested, she assisted the police because of the information she gave us. Now that we got the principal suspect, and the fact that the principal suspect confessed that she singularly committed the act, and equally went further to explain that she never met Nkechi Mogbo, but that she only phoned her and that they transacted all the business online, I have ordered her release on bail while we continue our investigation.’’ ,,
Family debunks police, Chidinma’s claims, states own facts
The family of the late Usifo Ataga, Super TV CEO, has spoken up for the first time since his killer lover was paraded in Lagos by the state police command on Thursday.
In a statement a spokesperson for Ataga’s relatives put out, there seems a iota of doubt in their take on the police theory—that Ataga’s girlfriend was solely responsible.
According to the police, Chidinma Ojukwu, a 300-level student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), stabbed her sugar daddy after both were high on drugs and alcohol and a misunderstanding ensued over sex.
“We, the Ataga Family, are grateful to the Nigerian Police for pursuing this investigation,” the family spokesperson Isi Ataga said in the statement.
“However, like you, we have many unanswered questions. Some things don’t add up.”
Isi tried to state their own facts.
“A little over a week ago, unknown persons savagely killed our beloved son, Usifo Ataga. With no regard for him, or his family, who love him, they viciously ended his life.”
Earlier the late CEO’s friends, like the family, had debunked the sugar daddy theory, saying Ataga was a responsible family man, and he might have been assassinated following a mega deal his TV streaming company just sealed.
The online world has not been making things easy for the Atagas since Chidinma confessed.
The death has been a laughing butt the social media enthusiasts have been using to hit sugar daddies in Nigeria.
“His children will grow up to read unkind, thoughtless words from thousands of people who have joined the lynching party in the press and the blogosphere,” said Isi.
“Our aging parents must now struggle to pick up the pieces amid a cacophony of misinformation propagated by strangers.”
He urged anyone with useful information to come forward and share it with the Police.
“We ask, sincerely, that you let us grieve this terrible loss with some privacy. This past week and a half has been the worst period of our lives.”
There’ s more to Chidima’s story, I think the security men will do more justice if they invite her friend that introduced the deceased to her for questioning and I think the friend will provide vital information that will enable them to handle the case properly. There are friends that help you to achieve your dream while some lead you to your destruction.
Choose your friends wisely: is not everyone that comes your way that is worthy of acceptance. This should serve as a lesson to everybody and I believe if security men use soft hand to follow her she will reveal more.

A woman has been reportedly arrested for allegedly stabbing her 15-year-old housemaid, according to a viral post made online. The Special Assistant to Governor Ayade on Strategic Communication, Andrea Ekeng Inyang first broke the news on his social media page, saying the woman in question had walked in on the teenage girl sitting on her husband’s lap watching TikTok videos.
“The news this evening; Somewhere in Mbukpa street Calabar South, madam walked in on her 15-year-old house girl sitting on her husband’s lap watching TikTok videos.
She got furious and stabbed the girl. As I type, she is behind the counter.” Inyang said.
The Police in Akwa Ibom State have not only compromised the investigation into the assault, rape and murder of the jobseeker, Iniubong Umoren, but also shamelessly lied to cover up many aspects of the crime, the NEXT EDITION can irrefutably report today.
Right from when the elder sister to the deceased, Ifiok, reported that Miss Umoren, who had gone for a job interview along the Airport Road, Uyo, was in distress, the police did not take prompt action to rescue her.
The report was made at the Itam Divisional Police station on April 29, less than 25 minutes after Miss Umoren made a distress call to her friend.
Rather than rush to where she was heard yelling, “Jesus ooo. Jesus ooo,” in a highly disconcerting call to her friend, the police simply asked the distraught sister to go home and wait.
According to information obtained by our correspondent, the police said they could not do anything because it was not up to 24 hours after Miss Umoren went missing.
It was, however, not true that she was missing. In fact, Ifiok, the elder sister and a bosom friend in Lagos, Uduak Umo, knew who invited Miss Umoren for a job interview and the approximate location of the interview.
It is also true that the operatives at the Itam Police Station were told where late Miss Umoren had gone for an interview and who the supposed interviewer was, but they did nothing to help.
Checks by this newspaper show that the police only swung into action about 24 hours after the information they refused to act upon was shared and it was trending on social media.
Many believe that Miss Umoren could have been rescued alive if the police had swung into action and raided the fake interview compound immediately a report was made.
Besides failing to act promptly to save the life of late Miss Umoren, our investigation has shown that the command has dished out many lies to cover up the activities of what appears to be a dangerous murder ring in Uyo.
During weeks of enquiries, we found that the self-confessed rapist and murderer, Uduak Frank, was not working alone against claims by state Police Commissioner, Andrew Amiengheme.
Mr. Amiengheme had said on a live interview on Arise News and while addressing reporters in Uyo that the police have not found any accomplice to the crime.
But this is not true as investigation by this newspaper show that it was Emem Emmanuel, who first reached out to late Miss Umoren and offered to help her get a job, a fact the police are aware of.
The deceased, who graduated tops in the Department of Philosophy, University of Uyo, had made a post on social media requesting for a job while waiting to be called up for the National Youth Service Corpse (NYSC) scheme.
Not long after she made the post, Mr. Emmanuel reached out to her through the social media platform, Twitter.
After asking whether late Miss Umoren was still available for a job and she responded in the affirmative, he offered to link her with his boss who he claimed was looking for a secretary.
A top security source confided in this newspaper that Mr. Emmanuel is suspected to be a front for a deadly murder gang in Uyo.
Investigation by this newspaper has additionally showed that it was Mr. Emmanuel, who sent the phone number of Mr. Akpan to Miss Umoren.
The suspected accomplice is the son of a prominent pastor of The Apostolic Church in Akwa Ibom State.
For reasons best known to Mr. Amiengheme, the name of Mr. Emmanuel, a key suspect and member of the fake recruitment ring who personally lured Miss Umoren to her death, has not been referenced at any event.
This happens even as the suspect has been held in custody for weeks alongside Uduak Akpan and his father at the state headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia.
Both the father of Mr. Akpan’s and the suspected accomplice were arrested on April 30 hours before the culprit turned himself in following assurances that he would not be hurt by the police.
This shows that the three persons were arrested on April 30 but at different times.
Curiously, neither Mr. Amiengheme nor the Police Public Relations Officer, Idiko MacDon, has said anything about Mr. Emmanuel and why he has been held in custody during their various encounters with the media.
For instance, Mr. MacDon did not say anything about an accomplice in a statement he issued on the arrest of Uduak Akpan on May 1.
Mr. Emmanuel was not paraded on May 14, when Uduak Akpan and his father were paraded.
But the Next Edition can authoritatively report that Mr. Emmanuel has been in police custody from April 30 and the Akwa Ibom State Police command can only deny it to its corporate shame.
A pastor and son’s attempt to cover criminal track
Not long after the search for late Miss Umoren went viral on social media, Mr. Emmanuel hurriedly deleted his conversation with late Miss Umoren.
He also brought down both his Facebook and Twitter accounts when social media users started attacking him for his role in the jobseeker’s travails.
Unable to take the hit, Mr. Emmanuel used his shadow Facebook account to make a post denying ever contacting or having a conversation with late Miss Umoren.
His surrogate boss, Uduak Akpan, also disabled his Facebook and Twitter accounts but later used one of his shadow accounts to admit he contacted late Miss Umoren.
He, however, dropped the number of the jobseeker whom he had raped and murdered at the time, insisting that she never made it to his location.
Both accomplices disappeared shortly after making their respective posts while the search for late Miss Umoren on social media became the top trending topic.
The circumstances that led to the arrest of Uduak Akpan have been mired in controversy.
There are contradictory accounts by Uduak Akpan’s father, his cousin, Kufre Effiong, the police and the chairman of Uruan Local Government Area, Iniobong Ekpenyong.
In any case, on Friday, May 21, we discovered that Pastor Emmanuel, a politically-exposed minister of The Apostolic Church, Uyo Field, went to the police headquarters to take his child, Emem, on bail.
He was said to have obtained a note from the office of the Akwa Ibom State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) authorising the release of the suspect.
The move was, however, when concerned Nigerians drew the attention of Miss Umoren’s family members and they rallied people to state police headquarters to stop the move.
A family crime gone sour — Another victim speaks out
While the police and Mr. Akpan have struggled so hard to make the world believe he (Mr. Akpan) acted alone in his criminal enterprise, investigation by this newspaper has shown otherwise.
The Next Edition has found a strong evidence to show his family members have been complicit in the crimes.
Multiple victims and persons who have made contacts with the self-confessed rapist and murderer all agree that his family members aided and abated his crimes.
A victim by the name Amaria (not her real name) said she was lured by a woman who claimed to work with an integrated farm located along the Airport road in Uyo Metropolis.
In an interview with our correspondent, Miss Amaria said she made a post soliciting for a job on Facebook in December 2020 and a girl with a Facebook name Blezzen Lazarus, contacted her through Facebook Messenger with an offer of one.
“A girl sent me a chat asking if I have gotten a job and I said no and she told me there is a vacancy where she works and that her manager is looking for a computer operator,” Amaria began.
“That was on a Thursday. She then told me that the pay is N35, 000 per month and I asked her whether I will be paid N35, 000 just to use computer when I am not even a graduate? And she said yes.”
Amaria said Miss Lazarus which she later found out to be Emem, a sister to Mr. Akpan had told her they run an integrated farm and promised to “tell her boss who is also her cousin that I am her very good friend so that he could give me the job.”
On getting the farm location from Miss Lazarus, she (Amaria) traced it on Google Map and found it was approximately one hour, 15 minutes from where she had gone to stay with her friend.
“I told her that the place was far and that I will be spending more than N500 daily on transport but she said I should not worry because I will be getting tips,” Amaria continued.
“Besides, she said they have a bus that drops workers at Shelter Afrique junction. And from there to my place is N150, 00 and I said that was nice.
“I was skeptical about the offer but my friend said since they have a bus, I should just go. I dragged it till Saturday when Miss Lazarus (Emem) called and asked me to call her manager.
“She said after that day, he will be traveling and she does not know when he will come back. It was after 3pm when I called him (Mr. Akpan) and he said he will call me back. He later called me a few minutes to 4.pm.”
Amarria said she spent over an hour on the road trying to locate the farm and was unable to pick her friend’s consistent call, a situation which made her call Mr. Akpan to know if she (Amarria) had arrived.
When she finally got to the compound at about 5pm, she said the person she met did not look like a manager of a big company and to confirm, she dialed his number and Mr. Akpan picked and told her he was the boss.
But things changed when Mr. Akpan told her he was involved in an illegal drugs’ business and insisted on testing the drugs on her, a move she resisted for hours.
“He asked what his cousin told me about the job and I told him everything and he said whether she didn’t tell me about drugs and I said no and that if she had told me about drugs, I wouldn’t have come,” Amarria recalled.
“Because of what I said, he can’t let me go. Before that, he had asked me if I had given anybody his number and I said no. he said I was lying and showed me his phone and I agreed that I gave it to my friend.
“He said I messed up and that before they will allow me to go, they will come and know where I stay because they have revealed their secret to me that they deal in drugs like cocaine and weed (Indian hemp).
“I told him his cousin didn’t tell me anything about drugs and that if she had told me I wouldn’t have come at all.
“He asked me to calm down and then asked who else I sent his number to and I told him I send it to all my family members and that I sent my location to them too and that my location is always turned on in my phone.
“He delayed me till 9pm but wouldn’t allow me to go. At a point, he asked if I was offered a huge amount of money to bring my friend to be killed. I told him I can’t bring my friend for them to kill.
“He then asked whether someone has done something to me that hurt so much that if I see the person at the point of death, I won’t help the person and I said yes.
“He asked if I can bring that person to be killed and I said no. He said that I am a chicken. I continued begging him to let me go.
“He told me to keep my voice low because there are guys in the uncompleted building, who are always on weed and that if I made noise they would come out and whatever I see I will take it. I kept my voice low but still begged him.”
It was at that point Amarria said Mr. Akpan said he was going to test two drugs to see if she can withstand them.
She continued, “I told him I don’t want to work again and he insisted that they needed to test the drugs on me.
“He brought out two wraps of weed (Indian hemp) at about 10pm and told me if I wanted to go, I should inhale and swallow the smoke.”
While smoking, she said Mr. Akpan was taking her round the compound and asking her questions about what she was seeing, apparently to test the effect of the drug on her.
When nothing happened after she smoked one wrap of weed, Mr. Akpan offered her a second wrap and she continued smoking.
“I believed that he wanted me to pass out or start misbehaving. So, I started telling him I am scared. The compound is moving. Look at a monster. Look at a vampire. Jesus o !.
“I was behaving like I was mad but meanwhile I was faking it so that I will know what his next moves would be.”
It was at that point she said Mr. Akpan ordered her to pull her clothes so he would have sex with her and she refused.
“In the process of trying to pull my trouser, I hit my leg on a stone and a small scream escaped from my mouth.
“I saw that he was so scared and perhaps, what he told me about people taking care of the farm wasn’t true. I then conclude that he wanted to rape me and collect my phone.
“At that point I screamed and he lifted me and hit my body on the concrete floor. Normally, I would have died with the way he hit me but I think the weed I took did not allow me to feel any pain. He rushed me into a small room and I saw the sister, Emem.
“I told her babe, how can you do this to a fellow girl like you and she told me ‘babe comply and you will go,’ and I told her thank you. Yours is better. You lure girls to your brother to rape.
After raping her, Mr. Akpan seized her phone, wiped her fingerprints from it, collected the N1, 200 she had, stripped her and took nude pictures of her.
It was when a motorcyclist called to drop Amaria came and Mr. Akpan then referred to her as his little sister that changed things in her favour.
“The bike man asked him not to allow his younger sister (Amaria) to go alone because it after 12 midnight and he reluctantly joined me on the bike. But when we got to the road and we saw two other riders and we stopped, I was bold to ask him to give me my phone,” Amaria continued.
The three motorcyclists were said to have seized Mr. Akpan’s phone after they saw Amaria’s nude pictures in his gallery and later forced him to go back with one of them to collect Amaria’s phone from Emem.
On getting to the compound, Mr. Akpan was said to have ran into the bush but the motorcyclist made noise that forced Emem and the mother of the self-confessed murderer to come out.
Investigation by this newspaper show that Emem had admitted being in custody of Amaria’s phone.
It was also learnt that the mother begged that the youth would not hurt Emem because she was innocent and that they have been pleading with Uduak to stop what he has been doing but he would not listen.
The lone youth was said to have collected the phone from Emem and took it to where Amaria was waiting with the other two guys and handed it over to her.
But Amaria, who had reported the matter to the police team at Nnwaniba Junction said she was advised to let go of the matter unless she was willing to part with as much as N50,000 for the investigation.
Asked what might have made Mr. Akpan not to kill her, Amarria said, “I think why he let me go was because I shared his contact and the location with my friend and he might have thought that if he hurt me, people will get to know about it.” A full interview with Miss Amarria will be published soon.
Between yam holes and shallow graves
While Mr. Amiengheme while addressing journalists on May 14, insisted that there were no shallow graves in the compound where Miss Umoren was murdered, investigation by this newspaper has sown otherwise.
In fact, multiple sources and locals who spoke with one of our correspondents who visited the crime scene confirmed that indeed, many more corpses were exhumed in the compound by persons suspected to be police officers.
A local youth who conducted our correspondent around the crime scene said a few days after the police came to exhume Miss Umoren, another set of persons who behaved like security operatives stormed the compound and exhumed seven more corpses.
“After the corpses were exhumed, the whole of this neighbourhood was oozing with this strong putrid oddour and it was difficult to pass here,” a youth local who would not give his name because of safety concerns told our correspondent.
The youth who was speaking in Ibibio Language continued, “He had buried so many people so many people in this compound. Do you see this place, there was a corpse here. In that place you see there, there was a corpse. It seemed he cut people into pieces and buried them in a sack.
“Many of the trees he planted here were spots he buried people and if they dig around the compound, many corpses will be found. All these spots you see are places where they exhumed decayed corpses. You can perceive the stench wherever you find a hole here.
“There are places we found human bones and they were so many of them. Look at this human bone here. People came in here and picked some of the bones and dried human flesh.
“These bags you find all over the place are what he used in burying people. He cut the parts he needed and dumped the remaining body parts in the bags and buried them,” the source told our correspondent.
Insert video of the compound here: Caption: A local youth taking our correspondent round the shallow graves in Mr. Akpan’s compound (Video by Ndifreke Jacob).
A woman from the neighbourhood confided in this newspaper that early in the year, a lady scaled the fence of the compound and ran naked to their home at midnight.
“One night, a lady scaled the fence and ran to naked into our compound and we hid her till the next day. We gave her clothes to wear and she went away,” the lady told our correspondent.
“So many things have happened in that compound and a lot of corpses were removed from there by people who looked like policemen.”
This new update will shock you more than the last one……..
Uduak Frank Akpan, who abducted and murdered Iniobong Umoren a young job-seeking graduate under the guise of offering her a Job has reportedly confessed that four members of Akwa Ibom House Of Assembly, 3 members of the National Assembly and 9 powerful Nigerian Pastors are among those that buy different human parts for rituals from him.
Furthermore, Police officer, civil servant linked to Akwa Ibom job seeker’s killer speak on suspicious call records:
A Superintendent of Police, Samuel Ezeugo, and a civil servant, Kufre Effiong, have explained their links to Frank Akpan, the suspected killer of the slain job-seeker, Iniubong Umoren.
According to records obtained from his mobile network provider published
In addition, Suspect’s cousin finally opens up on murder of jobseeker
A cousin to Uduak Frank Akpan, the alleged killer of Miss Iniubong Umoren, has opened up on his role as regards the death of the job seeker.
Mr Kufre Effiong, a civil servant at the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta, was alleged to be complicit in the murder of the Philosophy graduate from the University of Uyo, whose body was exhumed from the compound of Uduak Akpan’s father.
The allegations were made by one Nigerian journalist David Hundeyin, whose investigations attempted to establish that Mr Effiong and the suspect communicated after and in the heat of the incident. His findings also fingered a Superintendent of Police, Samuel Ezeugo, whom the journalist said contacted Akpan no fewer than 12 times between 4th and 27 April.
In his reaction, Effiong said he was first called by his Dad who lives in Lagos informing him that his cousin (Uduak Akpan) has been linked with a kidnap case.
Effiong said a call from another of his cousin, the Chairman of Uruan local government area, Hon Surv Iniobong Ekpeyong followed, who also informed him about the said development.
Effiong said the then-fleeing Uduak Akpan called him when he was with the Chairman who had a meeting with the DPO of Uruan and another DSP. During the call, which the suspect made in his hideout, Uduak Akpan had wanted to know his father’s whereabouts. The father was arrested by police on account that his son was on the run.
According to Effiong, following a few back and forth, Uduak Akpan eventually turned himself in. Effiong said he drove the DPO to Shelter Afrique Junction where “the suspect was picked up by the DPO”.
Meanwhile, before they met the suspect, Effiong said the Council Chairman had instructed that the suspect be taken to the Anti-kidnapping Unit directly but that the DPO advised that he should first be taken to Chairman’s house to calm him down and encourage him to cooperate with the Police.
At the Chairman’s house, Effiong said Uduak Akpan requested to speak to himself and Hon Ekpeyong, where he confessed to the crime.
After he had confessed, Effiong said the suspect was handed back to the DPO to take to the Anti-kidnapping Unit.
Effiong said, “I do not know about the suspect’s activities since he never lived or grew up with me. My role in the entire case is as stated and remains verifiably so”.
Read his full account below.
My name is Kufre Effiong. I am aware of some social media publications attempting to link me up with the gruesome murder of Late Ms. INIUBONG UMOREN. At first, I had wanted to maintain silence and allow the Police and the various agencies involved in the matter conclude their investigations and come up with comprehensive report but it now appears clear to me that silence is not golden in this matter where my hard earned reputation has continued to gather moss in the most misguided, misleading and mischievous manner in the court of the Nigerian social media.
Consequently, I am left with no other option than to make this public statement narrating my role in the trending subject and this I do, not to convince or change the predetermined positions and conviction of people who are bent on imputing ills even on the best of human’s intention for I have already warned myself that no matter how hard and loudly the truth speaks for itself, there are some who would prefer and give themselves to alternative facts. I leave such men and women in the hands of God, time and posterity.
With all modesty and good conscience, I make this statement for the records and information of members of the public who are genuinely concerned about the need to know my true side of the story.
The day was Friday, 30th of April, 2021 and the time was about 2 pm when I was called by my Dad who lives in Lagos, asking whether I have seen a trending article on the social media linking Uduak (who is my cousin) with a kidnap case. Not long afterwards, another cousin of mine who is incidentally the Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, called to intimate me on the same social media circulations and requested me to come to his house as Uduak’s father, Mr Frank Akpan has been reportedly arrested on account that the son, Uduak has absconded.
On arrival at the Chairman’s house, he told me that he was concerned that the arrested old man was sick and needed medication since he did not carry his drugs to the police station. According to the Chairman, some kinsmen were calling seeking his intervention to explore the possibility of allowing the old man access to his medications.
I was still at the Chairman’s house discussing Mr. Frank Akpan’s case when in the presence of the DPO who had a meeting with the Chairman and another DSP, Uduak called my phone asking if I knew where his father was. Initially, I was upset with Uduak for asking me the whereabouts of his father and immediately signaled the DPO that Uduak was the person who called and somehow, I managed to find the composure telling him that I was seeing the trending social media news involving him. Then Uduak said he had no credit and requested me to call him. Obliging to this his request, I called him back asking where he was and he replied that he was at Oron. Further asking about the missing girl, Uduak claimed that he lose contact with the girl when she got to Ibiaku, stating that he has neither seen nor heard from her since then.
He practically claimed to be innocent.
At that point, I encouraged him to turn himself in by going to the Idu Police Division to clear himself so his father can be released to go and take his drugs or that I can link him up with the DPO who is closed to us. Later, in the presence of one of our brothers, a Barrister who had come to see the Chairman, I forwarded the DPO’s phone number to Uduak. It was not long afterwards when Uduak called the DPO who encouraged him to come out, assuring him that he could personally come to the Shelter Afrique Junction to pick him up on arrival. While there all waiting and praying that the suspect does not change his mind, Uduak called the DPO informing him that he has arrived Shelter Afrique Junction.
The DPO then suggested that he will not go with his car to pick him so he does not panic and react adversely on sighting his car which has tinted glass. Rather, he requested that I drove him to the location and thus, accompanied by the DSP, I drove the DPO in my car to Shelter Afrique Junction where the suspect was picked up by the DPO.
Meanwhile, before we moved out, the Council Chairman had instructed that the suspect be taken to the Anti-kidnapping Unit directly but the DPO advised that he should first be taken Chairman’s house to calmed him down and encourage him to cooperate with the Police and thus, the suspect was taken to Ewet Housing.
At Ewet Housing, the suspect still denied knowing the whereabouts of the deceased, maintaining that he last heard from her when she said she has got to Ibiaku Junction but when we pressure him further, the suspect requested that he needed audience with the Chairman and myself alone. So, we took him in urging him to tell us the truth to enable us assist him where necessary. It was at that point that Uduak mentioned for the first time that the missing young lady actually got to his house. On hearing that, I could not find any emotional intelligence or coordination other than to ask and I asked straight, “is she alive?” Uduak started crying and shook his head to indicate that she was no more!
At that point, I lose it completely and almost fainted but managed to give him few slaps. I became completely distraught, devastated, incensed and confused at the same time. I was wailing like a woman who has just lost all and so was the Chairman. With that mixed frustration and infuriation, we quickly handed the suspect back to the DPO to take to the Anti-kidnapping Unit and this, we did without any second thought, telling the DPO that we had washed our hands off the matter and would not wish to be associated with it.
Accordingly, the suspect was taken to the Police custody where interrogations and thorough investigations are being carried out by the Police and the sister law enforcement agencies. I have no doubt that the suspect would have made useful statements to the Police to guide their further actions on the matter.
Unfortunately, the social media has been overflowing with so much damaging publications trying to link me up with the crime and further extending it beyond the specific incidence of Late Ms Umoren to an atrocious trade on human parts. Well, I want to state that I do not know about the suspect’s activities since he never lived or grew up with me. My role in the entire case is as stated and remains verifiably so.
Voluntarily on my own, I have made statement to the Police on record and they are fully aware of my role in the case. I have also assured them of my cooperation whenever and wherever I may necessarily be called upon.
As a human, I am deeply saddened and devastated by the turn out of event as all the three of us namely the DPO, the Council Chairman and myself who facilitated the arrest of the suspect are now facing false, malicious and damaging media attack trying desperately to link us with the offence in respect of which we made lots of sacrifices to ensure the suspect got into the Police net where he is currently being detained, interrogated and investigated.
Personally, I have been receiving threat messages from some over-zealous individuals who have labeled me trader on human parts. Now everybody who has lost friend or family member to kidnap cases, view me as the culprit. I no longer feel safe walking the street as a simple and ordinary man that I have always been but I have no regret that I measured up squarely to that responsibility of bringing out the criminal suspect face to face with the law. I am consoled that the suspect is in lawful custody and will be prosecuted in line with the law of our land. So, if this is the price I have to pay for bringing the murderer of my sister from another mother to face the law, I embrace this very heavy burden and trust that both time and God will be kind enough to redeem my image so misguidedly tarnished.
My only regret is that, there is no absolute reparation and replacement for the tender life so heartlessly and callously terminated at its prime stage. I commiserate with family and friends of the dearly departed and hope that justice will be done in the matter.
Notwithstanding above, honestly being my role in the matter and my conscience being crystal clear, if any person or group of persons know more than the Police do or possess within their exclusive preserves, any evidence linking me or anyone else with criminal act of Uduak Frank Akpan, they should freely approach the Police authority and make useful disclosures on such information rather than submerge the public media with speculative allegations aimed at constituting media trials and securing street convictions for very responsible persons who played sensitive and critical roles leading to the arrest of the suspect by the Police.
Senator Akpabio’s wife reacts after Iniubong Umoren’s death linked to her husband
Mrs Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, wife of former Akwa Ibom Governor and current Niger Delta Affairs Minister Godswill Akpabio, has knocked back at allegations her family had connections in the death of Miss Iniubong Umoren.
“My attention has been drawn to a publication made by a certain David Hundeyin on Social Media platforms that Davok Suites, 58, Unit G/S.9 Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State belongs to Ekaette Akpabio, wife of Godswill Akpabio.
“Ordinary, I would have excused this ignorance since ownership of any property or Hotel in a Government Estate is verifiably open to public knowledge.
“It is rather unfortunate that in Akwa Ibom, sponsored blackmail against my family has been the order of the day in these past years!
“I do not know the self-seeking interest David Hundeyin wishes to serve by linking the gruesome murder of INI Umoren to my family.
“I do not own Davok Suites. I am not a shareholder. I do not also know who owns Davok Suites neither do I know anybody whose name is Kufre Effiong – who is a staff of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
“Kufre Effiong does not work for my dear husband, Senator GODSWILL AKPABIO.
“I urge well-meaning Nigerians to ignore this blackmail, and the smear campaign on the reputation of my family,” she said in a statement on May 12, 2021.
Akpabio’s wife David Hundeyin, an investigative journalist, had published that Uduak Frank Akpan – accused of raping and murdering Miss Umoren – didn’t act alone. The journalist claimed that some police officers in Akwa Ibom and some big names in the state may have been complicit.
Using leaked data from the murder suspect’s mobile service provider, the journalist claimed that Akpan had links to one Kufre Effiong, a senior civil servant in the Ministry of the Niger Delta, where Senator Akpabio heads.
“It has just come to my attention that Davok Suites, the hotel at the centre of the 58 Unit G/S.9, Unit G, Ewet Housing Estate nexus involving Kufre Effiong ang Frank Uduak Akpan is owned by none other than Ekaette Akpabio, wife of Godswill Akpabio,” the journalist wrote on Twitter – claims which the Minister’s wife have dismissed.
In his investigation, the journalist also claimed that one police officer, Samuel Ezeugo, who was named as one of the officers that arrested Uduak Frank Akpan “actually has a preexisting relationship with the suspect and is in fact working in cahoots with the organ trafficking gang”.
Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom Police Commissioner has debunked the investigation of the journalist, even as he assured the matter would be transparently treated to ensure justice.
CP Andrew Amiengheme added that there were no human bones found inside the compound where Iniubong’s body was exhumed and that the array of women’s footwears, children’s school uniforms, books, certificates found there belonged to family members of the suspect – and not victims as widely thought.
David Hundeyin’s investigation report on the murder of Iniobong has revealed heartbreaking things and activities behind the scene; before and after the death of Iniobong Umoren.
However and sadly, the unfortunate reality is that we are in a clime that justice is easily swept under the carpet especially when it involves the less prominent.
We would have been so happy if relevant authorities will be sincere to ensure that those involved whether directly or indirectly in the murder of this innocent girl and others that died by their hands without our knowing are punished.
But from the look of things and from our own investigation, it seems the gang of body organ sellers in Akwa Ibom State were being patronized by politicians from both camps (state party and opposition). They have unitedly resolved that this matter must be swept under the carpet.
They are both guilty and as such it will be almost impossible to fight them. The gruesome murder of this young lady is painful but we can do little.
If you can observe, her family have been receiving donations from almost every quarter without knowing that this is their technique to make them forget about the fight for justice.
Just recently, her sister was given a scholarship by a prominent politician in the state.
For the first time in a long while, both parties in the state are united in this wicked course of ensuring that this matter died abruptly.
Operatives of the Anti- Robbery Squad in a serious Operation sometime last year at about 1330hrs, arrested a pastor who is also a notorious kidnapper and serial killer by name, Anthony Ndubuisi, from Ngo- Okpala in Imo State but resides at Umuebulu Etche local government area of rivers Rivers State.
The suspect who was arrested through intelligence led policing, on interrogation confessed to have carried out several kidnappings and killings of his unsuspecting victims, including his church members and dump their bodies in his Soakaway.
According to reports gathered, Pastor Tony who is also into the sales of shoes and owns a church in rivers state kills mostly his business associates after business deals and his church members who are rich especially the ones he is owing. He kills them in one of his unoccupied houses.
In the course of investigation, the suspect led Operatives to his house at Umuebulu, where he pointed to a Septic Tank that contained the bodies of his victims and surprisingly so many dead bodies were removed from the tank that got the police and people shocked
On investigations, the police recovered three human skulls and the decomposing body of his recent victim which happened to be his church member.
They have been evacuated and taken to the mortuary for Autopsy.
In the wake of his arrest, two Pump action guns and some Cartridges were recovered from this wonderful pastor.
The police and his entire neighbour’ s were in total shock for they never believed the pastor could be that wicked.
The pastor was taken back to the police station while serious investigations were being carried out.
While confessing to the crime, it was discovered that the pastor had so many people working for him, he told the police he was only using the church to deceive people that his main business was kidnapping and killing.
He explained to the police why he usually kill his victims according to him: he kills his victims so that they won’ t expose him of his evil doings.
Two siblings, Chiamaka and Emeka Ifezue, who allegedly masterminded the killing of make-up artist, Ijeoma, have been arraigned before an Enugu magistrate court.
According to reports, investigations uncovered that Chiamaka and her brother killed Ijeoma for being the new girlfriend to Chiamaka’s ex-boyfriend.
During the hearing, it was disclosed that Chiamaka lured Ijeoma by inviting her for a make up job.
On getting there and suspecting foul play, Ijeoma quickly sent an SOS message to a friend, before being forced to drink a poisoned substance.
The young lady’s heartbroken mother who was at the hearing could not hold back her tears and pain.
She was seen in a video laying curses on her daughter’s killers, while praying for justice to be served.
Watch the video below;
It was gathered that the late Ijeoma who was a professional makeup artist, was called on for a makeover job in Enugu. The location was unknown but she was told to alight at ESBS bustop. While having uncertainties about the job, she called her brother and informed him of her location.
She was to be picked up from there but was later found dead.
The brother to the deceased, Nnamdi Nneke, told sources that his sister was picked from where she was, locked up and drugged. She was given a poisonous substance and later, acid was poured on her body to decompose and left on the road to die.
This was done as a result of a relationship crises. One of the accused, Chiamaka Ifueze claimed that Ijeoma was in a relationship with her boyfriend. Ijeoma on her part didn’t know the guy she was dating was seeing Chiamaka and had no reason to bother.
The relationship between Ijeoma and her boyfriend got her angry and she connived with her brother, Emeka Ifueze to kill her. That was how the fake job was brought about leading to Ijeoma’s death.
An eyewitness, a gateman around the area, claimed he saw the body being dumped on Maryland road. He then saw a man, the accused, pouring acid on the dead girl’s body. Other eyewitness also agreed to talk.
The accused were charged with two counts of conspiracy and murder and have been remanded at the Enugu correctional center.
