5 Suspected Children Kidnappers Paraded By Abia State Police Command (Photos)

The Abia State Police Command, yesterday, paraded five (5) suspected child kidnappers in Aba, Abịa State. The suspects who were arrested at various locations for child kidnapping include Ekene Duru (31), Chinonso Sylvanus (17), Ngọzi Ukpabi, Rose Okoro (45) and Chidi Okoro.

In a statement made available to ABNTV, the Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP, Janet Agbede who was represented by Mr Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Public Relations Officer of the State Command said the command swung into action following complaints made by Mrs Happiness Monday and Mrs Ikechukwu Rejoice about their missing children on the 28th of August 2020. 

Confessing to the crime, the duo of Chinonso Sylvanus and Ekene Duru said that they specialize in kidnapping children from the Umuochiala axis of Aba to other cities where they have buyers. 

17 year-old Chinonso said it was Ekene Duru that lured him into stealing their neighbour’s toddler. This is the latest operation that exposed them – kidnapping a toddler from a woman who runs a hairdressing saloon. Chinonso who knows the woman too well banked on the closeness and kidnapped the baby. 

Chinonso from Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State with his Ekene from Mbano in Imo State said they used eggs and biscuits to lure the children. 

The suspects will soon be charged to Court where they will face they full wrath of the law.

Meet OSISIKANKWU: One of the most feared and notorious kidnapper the  South East has ever experienced. With real names Obioma Nwankwo. Osisikankwu was known as a deadly, ruthless and cold blooded killer.

He is an indigene of Ugwuati, in Ukwa West local government area of Abia State. A state he and his dare devil gang terrorized for years before he met his end in the hands of Nigerian Army on Sunday, 12 of Dec 2010. 

Osisikankwu spent most of his life in Port harcourt, Rivers state where he became a member of a dreaded militant group in Okirika. When the Niger Delta militants were granted amnesty by Late President Umaru Musa Ya’adua, Osisikankwu returned to his hometown in Abia state. 

There he formed what later became one of the most feared kidnapping and criminal syndicate, in the history of South-East and South-South, Nigeria. Having great knowledge of the Ugwuati evil forest, he used it as his operational base to cause mayhem in Abia state and surrounding states which include Rivers state. 

Obioma Nwankwo aka Osisikankwu’s group were sophisticated and large. He had to split them to smaller units and they all report to him. They were involved in; bank robbery, kidnapping, car jacking, assassinating and whatnot.

However, he met his waterloo when he kidnapped about 15 school children of Abayi International School, Aba on the 27th of September 2010. This horrific act by Osisikankwu sparked public outcry which made the then President, Goodluck Jonathan rose up to the occasion. 

A manhunt for Osisikankwu began. The operation that led to his death was coordinated by the GOC, 82 Division Enugu, Major General Sarki Yaki Bello, under the close supervision of Lt Gen Ihejirika the then chief of Army staff. 

After almost 6 weeks of the deployment of the special task force to Abia state by President Jonathan, Osisikankwu was killed, and his remains driven in an open roof car all over Aba by the military. This was done to reassure residents of normalcy returning to the city. 

How 30 Armed Men Attacked Police Officers, Killed One, Cut Off Another’s Wrist

Abia Police Command has arrested four persons in connection with the killing of a police inspector, Princewill Divine.

Mrs Janet Agbede, the state’s Commissioner of Police, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Umuahia on Friday.

Agbede said that the late Divine was among the five Police Mobile Force personnel attached to 28 and 55 squadrons who were attacked on September 7, at Okagwe Junction, Ohafia.

She said the policemen were attacked by about 30 yet-to-be-identified gunmen at a bus stop pavilion located at the nip point where they were taking shelter during heavy rainfall.

Agbede said: “The criminals, armed with guns, machetes and other dangerous weapons, unexpectedly shot at the policemen and cruelly used machetes on the policemen who in-turn retaliated.

“One of the policemen, Inspector Princewill Divine, died instantly, another had his wrist cut off, while others were left with varying degrees of injury.”

According to her, the hoodlums, who might have sustained bullet wounds, carted away three AK47 rifles with some ammunition.

However, the CP revealed that the four persons arrested in connection with the incident were helping in the investigation to ensure further arrests and recovery of police firearms.

She, therefore, appealed to medical and trado-medical practioners within and outside the state to report any person seen or presented with bullet wound(s) to the police or any nearest security agency.

Agbede, who said that she personally visited the scene, the victims and the neighbouring communities, also appealed to all hospitals and the general public to report suspicious persons.

Meanwhile, the CP confirmed the arrest of Mr Robinson Abel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Akwa Ibom Command, over the killing of Mr Onyedikachi Nwogu on September 8.

She said that Abel, who was attached to CGGC Global Limited dualising Aba/Ikot-Ekpene road, shot and killed Nwogu of Umuokoro Umuokpo in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia.

Agbede reported that the suspect said that the major road was blocked and he with other road users diverted to an alternative way where he had encounter with the deceased.

She reassured law-abiding citizens of the state and all residents to continue with their lawful businesses.

The CP urged them to avoid any act capable of causing breach of peace.(NAN)
