I Saw Many Kidnapped Nigerians In Nasarawa Forest – Ex-Commissioner

Former  Commissioner for Higher Education in Nasarawa State, Chief Clement Uhembe has narrated his unpleasant three day experience in the hands of his abductors who kept him without food until his ransom money was paid.

Chief  Uhembe  who is also a senior lecturer in the department of Political Science , Federal  University of  Lafia was released by his abductors on Thursday 8th October, 2020 at about 9:pm after an undisclosed amount of money was paid for his release

The gunmen  had in the late hours of Tuesday, October 6, 2020 Kidnapped the former commissioner from his residence at Akunza Migili, in the outskirt of Lafia and demanded for the sum  N30million as  ransom.

Chief Uhembe  while narrating  his ordeal  said he saw hell in the hands of his kidnappers, saying  he was chained for three days without food.

“My abductors chained me throughout the period I was in captivity and warned me not to talk too much because I was trying to make them see reason why they should denounce their criminal ways and find legitimate means of livelihood.

“I had trekked for about six hours with them from my house where  they picked me to a thick forest around the Adogi area of Lafia.

“There are many other kidnapped victims abducted from different parts of the country, who are still being held in that forest. I observed that they have a very strong network and a unique way of communication within the forest,” he said

The former commissioner further revealed how he was handed over to another set of abductors on reaching the forest on the fateful night.

“They run shift. Some of them will go out and abduct their victims and hand over the victims to another set of people upon reaching the forest. Those ones are responsible for chaining and monitoring the kidnapped person(s).

“The kidnappers camping in that forest are in large numbers. Those of them that came and abducted me were ten. Out of this number, eight were armed with AK47 rifles while the remaining two had machetes and other sharp objects,” he added.

Narrating further,  Chief Uhembe   said that  the kidnappers were specialists in their form of crime, who understand and could speak almost all the local dialect in the state.

“My experience in the kidnappers’ den is something one will not wish even his worst enemy to pass through. I really saw hell.

“They told me they were misinformed by their informants about my financial status. That the information given to them about me was that I am rich, I receives N1.5million from the state government every month and that I own a flashy black car.

“The kidnappers also told me that on reaching my house they observed there was no light and my fence has no gate so they began to wonder the kind of rich man that the entry point to his compound has no gate and was living in darkness”, he said.

He thanked God for sparing his life and appreciated the state government, security agencies, his colleagues, friends and relations for their prayers and support during his trying moment. The views expressed in this article are the writer’s, they do not reflect the views of Opera News.Read more>>https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-1883810847636355&output=html&h=122&slotname=3141034707&adk=1743890961&adf=3912932622&w=487&fwrn=4&lmt=1598614572&rafmt=11&psa=1&guci=×122&url=https%3A%2F%2Fres-h5.dailyadvent.com%2Flite%2Fdetail&flash=0&wgl=1&tt_state=W3siaXNzdWVyT3JpZ2luIjoiaHR0cHM6Ly9hZHNlcnZpY2UuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbSIsInN0YXRlIjowfV0.&dt=1602369423098&bpp=6&bdt=630151&idt=7&shv=r20201007&cbv=r20190131&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3D8121bfd088737d70-22666355a7b60080%3AT%3D1596287457%3ART%3D1596287457%3AS%3DALNI_MYfj9KJ8MhWfoepVlvA1XHr1us_hg&prev_fmts=487×75%2C0x0%2C487x122%2C487x122%2C510x185%2C510x185%2C487x75%2C487x122&nras=1&correlator=397254912517&frm=20&pv=1&ga_vid=1136663944.1602368101&ga_sid=1602368101&ga_hid=2134331180&ga_fc=0&iag=0&icsg=36510023426&dssz=19&mdo=0&mso=0&rplot=4&u_tz=60&u_his=2&u_java=0&u_h=854&u_w=534&u_ah=854&u_aw=534&u_cd=24&u_nplug=0&u_nmime=0&adx=24&ady=3836&biw=534&bih=792&scr_x=0&scr_y=0&eid=21066923%2C21066973&oid=3&psts=AGkb-H9k5ZUUr4yh12cKkQbwj6LnHmxnhzN6kBfyTQZBVyaBefyQlk3cfA70uEeKmkGD%2CAGkb-H_ke2DdnRL5cQhg9RzKVI0EcfNMaKifOMhvbUm7aUq1lkg6-Sadof_LYa2La-I1%2CAGkb-H_0Vl4JWLtt8bzCq3blS37Do6tZWyjm1jGdklT78kCN9-SQ1aU7HEiyHd0nymX8%2CAGkb-H96kgP7KVRQUQjcDMmHK5TT8r74P0v3rv6ObX2jm579JUufzpb14Iu_teDj-4bw%2CAGkb-H_Apb7p41Isl-SodLPohnH_dtxHwmpVm590dw2z1wi9gacdchn90fU5FyNLiT6p&pvsid=3228087623673290&pem=934&rx=0&eae=0&fc=900&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C534%2C0%2C534%2C792%2C534%2C792&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7CpoEebr%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=8320&bc=31&ifi=8&uci=a!8&btvi=6&fsb=1&xpc=knGG4AENta&p=https%3A//res-h5.dailyadvent.com&dtd=42

  • NureniBadmos12h3Good information for the police to act upon. Send SARS to the forest now. SARS should be deploy to fight these bandits in the forest instead of harassing innocent citizens on the roads .Because they are not properly deployed that is why they engage in illegal duties. By the time they are deploy to fight the bandits in the forest am sure most of them would resign from the force. Only the serious will remain.
